Hi,

I've been in Thailand for 5 days on a 60 day visa exempt tourist visa I am from Australia 57 years old. I am going to apply for a Non O retirement visa here in Thailand, I am living with my girlfriend at her house in Udon Thani, can anyone recommend a good legitimate Visa company to use in Udon Thani....I know it is more expensive and possibly harder to do from inside Thailand, but that is the choice I have made.

I have the funds necessary 800,000 Thai baht to deposit into a Thai bank account, I would appreciate some good references for the best agency to use.

Thanks in advance this group has some good info and I look forward to your advice.

Cheers Vaughn.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Vaughn, an Australian expat, is seeking recommendations for legitimate visa agencies in Udon Thani to help him apply for a Non-O retirement visa. He has the required funds to deposit into a Thai bank account and is currently staying in Thailand on a 60-day visa-exempt tourist visa. Community members suggest various agencies, including the Thai Visa Centre and Motts services in Pattaya. There is also discussion about the complexities of opening a bank account under tourist visa conditions and the necessary steps for obtaining the Non-O visa from within Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

My advice is to give it at least two years before you make mistakes. You will find that in that time you will meet people who can help you. Plus you start to get a better understanding how things work and where things are.

I thought u could only do this from Australia.??

Thank you for all the contributors to my post, you have all been very helpful.

I clearly understand now that I must apply for the non-O immigrant visa outside of Thailand and then re-enter Thailand on the 90 day visa and open the Thai bank account, then deposit the 800,000 Thai baht, then wait for approx 2 months and apply for the extension for upto 12 months on the non-O visa.....then renew the visa every 12 months and attend immigration every 90 days for reporting.

Does this sound correct?

Cheers

Vaughn.

TSL & Associates, they have offices all over Thailand. It's owned/run by a brother & sister who speak fluent English as so do most of their employees. They aren't some shady service, they are well respected in Thailand.

Why not do the application online at home they sent the visa to your email. Takes 10 days and 120 dollars, don't use an agent do it yourself in khon kaen to get retirement visa and is easy. I just completed it cost 1000 baht

I would suggest that when you get close to your current stamp running out you take a trip to a nearby country and apply for the Non-O from there. Once you have it return to Thailand, open a bank account, put a minimum of 800k baht in it and once its been there 2 months apply for a 12 month extension of stay
Ossie *********
@John *********
better still look into the new DVT 5 year multi entry visa
Maitin *******
@Ossie ********
what's better about it? If the money isn't a problem Non O is a long term visa, DTV is not.
Ossie *********
@Maitin ******
non O visa is a yearly visa nothing is guaranteed in life especially all the constant changes they do in Thailand the only long term visa in Thailand is the 20 year elite which costs a million baht if you had to leave Thailand in an emergency and your O visa expires you have to start the process all over again !
Maitin *******
@Ossie ********
the 20 privilege visa is significantly more than 1 million baht. The Non O retirement visa is legally a long term visa. The DTV is a short term visa as you can't actually stay in Thailand for a year ( you must leave ). Maybe banks are giving DTV holders a very hard time opening accounts.

There is a 10 year ( really 5 + 5 ) LTR but I can't get health insurance and having to tie up $100,000 USD for 10 years in Thailand will cost me significantly more than the 1.5 million baht for the 10 year privilege visa

Even if I let my non O retirement visa expire because I left Thailand, once you have a place and a bank account, it's straight forward to go to immigration and get one.
Marianne ********
@Ossie ********
what constant changes?
John **********
@Ossie ********
a Non-O visa is a 90 day visa. Once you are inside Thailand on that visa you can purchase annual extensions of stay ad infinitum without ever having to leave Thailand
Graham ******
@Ossie ********
it might be better for you but not for everyone, DTV not DVT, DVT is not good for anyone ;)

But I will be a hassle to get your bank account opened on a tourist visa I ended up traveling to Laos Vientiane to do my O.A.visa I used an agent there to do it for me because I'm a lazy person but you still have to stay in Laos took 4 days to process good luck

what agency did you use in Laos, I'm going to apply for the non-O visa there.

Thanks.
Jeff *************
@Paul ********
who did you use in Laos, Iโ€™m in the same boat Iโ€™m heading to Laos this weekend
Brandon ************
@Paul ********
If you went to Laos, you certainly did not get a non-OA visa. That's a visa you can ONLY get in your home country, and it requires insurance, health check, criminal records check, and many other things. The only retirement visa you could have gotten in Laos would have been the non-O visa.
Vaughn **********

@Brandon ***********
Hi Brandon,

What is your best advice, I don't mind paying for professional service from a visa agent in Bangkok, do you think I would be eligible for a retirement visa and of course the Thai bank account if applying from inside Thailand, I am living with my girlfriend in Sakon Nakhon Provence and she can confirm that I am residing in her family house.
Brandon ************
@Vaughn *********
If you can find an agent that will do everything for you then there's no problem. But many agents have lost the ability to open bank accounts. So if you can't find an agent to do that, you'll need to leave and apply for the non-O from a Thai embassy, and then return with the non-O visa and start from there.
Vaughn **********

@Brandon ***********
how long does the non-O visa give me? Can it be renewed every 12 months?

Is this a retirement visa?

Thanks for your help๐Ÿ˜„
Ian *******
@Vaughn *********
I believe I got an initial 3 months and then you start doing 12 month extensions. It was not hard, just ask your local immigration what is required. But I already had a bank account because I initially came in on an OA visa.
Brandon ************
@Vaughn *********
non-O gives you 90 days on entry. Then you open the bank account using it, and can apply for an extension every year if you meet the requirements.
Vaughn **********

@Paul ********
when did you do this in Laos?
Alastair ********************
I may be wrong here but I was under the impression you needed to enter on a Non-O visa (applied for outside of Thailand). I doubt any bank will now open an account when you're on a tourist visa. The Non-O visa then allows time to open an account and allow for the funds to be in your account for the required time period.

I entered then got o on the retirement al done in country.

I miss read your post, yes convert the visa exempt to a 90 day Non-O. Hope I don't confuse you (or me). I have read that once you have the Non-O issued for the purposes of seeking a retirement visa/marriage immigration can lrovide you with a document specifically for the banks indicating that you require the account for residential purposes thus enabling you to open an account (have a look at previous posts in relation to Bangkok Bank issues - i think the guy who rums this site provided that info)

I have a friend who went down this path, and the bank still would not open a bank account for him.

yes you are wrong. Your only current option is to use an agent. Expect to pay 45-60k.

You can get a Non-O from a neighbouring country such as Laos, no need to fly home unless you want a Non-OA
Maitin *******
@Graham *****
if you go Non OA you need health insurance.

Honestly, just get an agent. You only need them once to open the bank account. From then on its pretty easy. BTW, he will need a TM30 from the girlfriend if she owns the house.

I go for a 90 day O visa. If you already have the money there is no need to use a visa company. I went there for advice in Udon. She advised me to do it myself as they only deal with people who don't have the money

Question, should I apply for the TM 7 first through immigration before I see a visa agent or will that be part of the complete Retirement Visa application carried out by the visa agent?
Ant ***********
@Vaughn *********
Each immigration may have slightly different requirements for a Non-O

If you want to better understand your local immigration, go in and ask for a list of requirements, even if you donโ€™t end up using them initially, it can help you in later yrs

yes good advice go to your local imigration office they will tell you exactly what you need.

the owner of this group is a visa agency. They will only get a bank account opened for somebody on a touristic entry, if he buys the complete package - bank account, change to 90-days Non-O visa and 12-months extension. The price for this package starts at 55,000 THB. . . . I still highly doubt that Cambodia Visa does the same for free ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

"was"? How long ago was your experience? The whole scenario changed by February 2025. You can't get a bank account opened any more since. And many agencies do not have the means or connections to bypass the new regulations. Even in Thailand, agencies and tea-money got limits

there are three of us travelling late September, between us we contacted over 9 different agents. Out of all these agents only two replied giving very detailed advice on what we could do . I wonโ€™t list all the agents but the replies we got from them were basic , no we cannot do anything for you , others said we should get non o visa and open bank account as they cannot do this anymore . These enquiries were made late July up until first week in august , I am not throwing shade on any agent as I believe things are really difficult for them at the moment. The two who replied with full details on what we should do with costings for their services were TVS visa service in Pattaya (Jay) the other was Thai visa centre based in bangkok ( Grace ) both these people replied to emails promptly . We were very impressed by detail and level of advice given by both . It seemed like these agents had dedicated people dealing with enquiries, some agents just replied with a one line to contact them on Line , despite us clearly saying we are in uk . Anyway I donโ€™t want to ping pong replies and I was in no way downing any particular agent but it would be remiss not to mention the ones who were very good and gave full details to help us . I know visa services are going through horrendous changes at the moment.To be honest we didnโ€™t actually want a retirement visa but we are aware the immigration are clamping down on people visiting and extending the stay going out and doing the same again as we did so we could stay 6 months . One of our party got stopped by immigration on their second visit to Thailand so after that scare we thought we should do something . We arrive at different times this September so each will chose which of the two agents depending on where they are going to stay and Iโ€™ll try feedback the results, who knows it might have changed again by the time we arrive .
