Listen, I think you have every right to try and beat the system, or to use TV's to stay in Thailand year round, which you seem to be doing. However I do believe that this approach will become more and more troublesome as time progresses. I personally think that Thailand should turn a blind eye to people like you, as long as you don't cause any trouble and not working illegally I don't see the problem. But I do believe the Thai powers that be look at it quite differently.
Five back to back TV's with extensions, I would worry, they might tell you "your holiday has been long enough" and either refuse entry or give you a 7 day stamp to sort out your affairs. It's funny how you went all high and mighty on me the other day, yet it is people like you that brought this on in the first place. Oh the irony.
yes but flying also cost time, and money, and short of going to malaysia, I would pay 30 usd for Cambo and 35 for Lao and I think getting to CW will probably still be cheaper considerably and more importantly quicker.
agree about not being able to stay more then 270 days, in fact since this visa cannot be obtained in neighboring countries (unless one happens to have residency there) you always loose a day. In Western Europe for example, they are 5 or 6 hours behind Thailand, so even if someone picks up the visa, gets into the plane a few hours later, there is no possible way they arrive at the Thai border on the same day, hence loosing a day.
not everyone stays there Todd. A border bounce from Bangkok to the nearest border will amount to well over 2000 baht and nine hours. I think I would go to Chiang Wattana instead
I disagree, you are not burning the validity of the visa, that remains at 180 days from date of issue. If an extension is cheaper and less time consuming, you would save on the number of border hops you need to undertake. And still make the borderhop on day 179 to get to 269 days in total.
an metv gives you unlimited entries within the 6 month validity and is good for almost 270 days in country if used to maximize stay. Extensions can be obtained but are not strictly necessary if a border run is cheaper and or quicker, and no re-entry permits are needed if one decides to visit a neighboring country. METV can only be obtained in the country of your birth or a country you have a residency permit .
