Jennifer Yuwapun OP qualifies for a free 30 days visa exempt stamp, OP does not qualify for a paid visa on arrival. Only 19 countries do qualify, and the period of stay is 15 days.

The best time to go is on friday, virtually no-one there, the catch is you need to stay over the weekend, but to me that is a plus :)

Yeah :) Easy there, I got my two stamps as well, and I'm just a tourist, next time it's visa time in Vientiane :)

Yeah Lao is easy, entered Lao many times, although never to do a border run, Lao is a destination in it's own right :)

Ash thought he could exit Thailand and enter Lao without paying for a visa on arrival on the premises that he would return straight away, or even not enter Lao at all. If he does enter Lao he will pay for VOA, if he does not enter Lao, he will be send back by Thai immigration and still pay for the LAO voa.

LOL there is NO way it can be done, in none of the four neighboring countries, Thai immigration will see that you are lacking an entry/exit stamp from the other country and will send you back

Indonesia is NOT on mutual visa exempt (laos for instance IS) so you are limited to two overland visa exempt entries per calendar year. Welcome to the club, even though I am a genuine tourists (stayed in Thailand for 4 weeks in december/january and 3.5 weeks in april), I already received my two overland stamps, and will be forced to either fly in or obtain a visa in Vientiane for my third entry in november.
