I have had luck only with cherry tomatoes. And I have to be the bumble-bee, shaking the new flower buds to get them to pollinate. I've have an easy time with cucumbers, but perhaps where you live is just too hot.
This is good advice, even if you don't have hearing loss. I have taken Thai friends, who also speak English, with me the past two years to renew my retirement visa. If there is a sticking point, and there almost always is, a Thai speaker with you is indispensable.
Mine originated in Chiang Mai, and I renewed last year at Koh Samui, where I live now. No issues at all. Check your local office for the list of particular documents you will need to renew.
