Can I use my US health insurance to meet the requirements for my Non-O retirement visa in Thailand?

I have a non-O retirement visa, and have been purchasing the minimum health insurance required to renew my visa each year. I am hearing from others with same visa type that my health insurance from the USA can be used to meet that requirement. Is this true, and if it is, what documents are needed to show proof of insurance?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual seeks clarification on whether their US health insurance can fulfill the minimum health insurance requirements for renewing a Non-O retirement visa in Thailand. Responses indicate that Non-O visas do not require health insurance for extensions, contradicting the initial assumption, but clarify that a Non-OA visa does require insurance from approved providers.

Yes, I made a mistake with my original post. Sorry for the confusion. 🙏

Think you may be getting confused about the initial visa you entered on. A Non O visa and extensions off of that has no requirement for health insurance.

A Non OA visa (and extensions) off of it require health insurance. For the initial visa you applied for on your home country that can be a foreign insurance provider. For extensions in country you need to use one of the 13 Thai approved companies.

I made a mistake. I am on a non-OA visa, not non-O. So, now that I have cleared that up, I am still wondering if my health insurance from the USA qualifies for a non-OA visa extension?

Bummer. I'm past 72yo now so it's getting very expensive. I have thought about converting to non-O, but I keep hearing through the grapevine that soon health insurance will be required for that type of visa also. Meanwhile, thank you for your responses. 🙏

There’s been rumours for years about that. Nothing has changed and can’t see it happening soon but who knows.

You’d have to leave Thailand to come back either exempt and apply for non O in country or go to a nearby consulate and buy a non O there.
