"Under the radar", the radar being used these days i "ground penetrating radar" it see's everywhere. However someone brings money in TH its visible from somewhere. If yoiur here the IMM dept knows that. If you transfer, by bank transfer, atm, credit card, wise, western union, cash, rolex watches, gold bars etc. its visible and they are looking for it.
there will be an exodus of retiree because of the new tax laws. TH want to make it easier for people to spend their money in Thailand, why make so strict rules for retiree's. If people want tax free status, you need to buy a condo for usd250k, this is crazy, and have a pensiob income of usd4k per month why? Scrap these stupid requirements.
Pretty simple if they want to enforce it. When I renewed by 12 month extension of stay, I had to get a copy of my bank details for the previous 12 months. They can easily extend that to a requirement for receipt of a tax return. If you are planning on being here for the rest of your retirement and they do actually enforce the law and you are audited and u will be eventually, the penalty is 200%. OK, fine, live in denial but keep yourself informed as to what's happening and not what you assume is not happening. There is a proposal to tax people on their globally income, that is the real gamer changer. Stay lucky.
I am watching the visa and tax system with interest. I think Gov has shot themselves in the foot, I suspect changes are coming especiially to the retiree portion of the LTR.
