Dobby you are best off obtaining a Non-O from your original country. Then coming to Thailand to convert into an Extension of Stay based on retirement. This then gets around the problem of opening a bank account in Thailand to obtain an Extension which is next to impossible! Once you have converted then you can open a bank account to deposit the 800kTHB for future Extensions.

I think you best do some more research regarding citizenship. Knowledge of Thai language, working and paying taxes here to name 2 hurdles. Believe me, it is a pipe dream for you. Best just go for extensions of stay preferably based on retirement which is a lot easier than marriage.
