obviously you would be outraged to pay for an ESTA to enter USA. If it's too expensive for some people then they can't afford to travel.

Good grief. If it's such a huge financial issue for people, they should not be travelling. I've just paid to enter USA with an esta. I will have to pay to get the same sort of thing to enter Europe. It's not a travel tax. It's a form that pre-advises details of your entry and wheedles a few who aren't permitted.

proof you are leaving within 60 days can be requested by airline. I'd call them and ask. Immigration can ask but rarely do.

I asked were you applying for a tourist visa, you didn't answer. So guessing what you are doing. And you reply rudely to most people.

I'm British and don't need a tourist visa. I enter visa exempt for 60 days and extend by 30 days to visit friends and family.
