I would like to apply for a non-retirement visa (over 50) in Vientiane, Laos... I'm Canadian.

The embassy website states that you must have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank.

This seems implausible to me since it's impossible to open such an account beforehand...would the equivalent or more in a Canadian bank be acceptable?

If so, would a bank statement for the last 3 months be valid, or does it need to be notarized or require some other certification?

From september 24 to january 25. It seems you have done visa run...though it should not give you any problem

I won't be in my home country (Canada) until I return to Thailand in November... I'm currently in Indonesia for the next 6 months.

Perhaps a solution would be to apply for a non-immigrant visa in Malaysia in November, go out to Laos after 90 days and apply there for a single-entry tourist visa?

I mean, I will go out after the first 90 days is over...and then apply for a new visa... I don't want to open a thai account or have a lease etc...because last time I came in they say tourist visa is not accurate for me

I was wondering if this was a requirement for application for the non-o visa or for the extension of it?

I guess passport expiration date must be more than one year at the date of entry in thailand?
