Can I change my Non-Immigrant O visa dates or do I need to explain at immigration upon arrival?

I have just received my Non-Immigrant 0 visa. I filled out the application form, and told the embassy my date of travel 01/06/2025 that then gives me 3 months, they have issued the E-VISA from 18/04/2025 until 16/07/2025, can I get it changed or should I go to immigration and explain when I arrive, and Brandon what are the complications.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Non-Immigrant O visa is valid from the date of issuance for a 3-month period, but your length of stay (90 days) begins only when you enter Thailand. Even though the E-Visa is valid from 18/04/2025 until 16/07/2025, your stay will only count from your entry date on 01/06/2025, allowing you a full 90 days in Thailand from that point.

The dates on your E visa is the window that you have to use the Visa in other words, you have 90 days to use the visa has nothing to do with your length of stay.

I’d like to thank everyone for all the information and once again a big thanks to Stuart, I must say I did start to panic a little bit when I saw the visa and the dates know I understand how it works, I will sleep well tonight

the 3-month visa VALIDITY starts to count on the date of issue. The 90-days STAY PERMIT starts the day you enter Thailand. The visa must be used within the period of the validity, and it will become invalid upon entry

there is only one thing that starts to count when he enters Thailand, and this is not the visa. When he enters, he will receive a 90-days stay permit, and the visa itself will become invalid

look at the bottom of the entery stamp(it has the e-visa on it),it gives you 90days, it is given jointly with the e-visa (which you are to carry in the passport

yes, but what I said is, the visa is only good for ONE entry (single entry visa class) so the visa itself will become invalid for further use after he entered Thailand. He then is in Thailand on a "90-days stay permit", and this stay permit can get extended for one year, if he fulfills the requirements. A visa cannot get extended. Buriram Immigration now uses the correct terminology, they don't "extend visas" any more. They fully correctly only extend "stay permits" 😎

They visa is issued from day of approval, it is valid for entry during the 3 month period. You do not have to exit when the entry period expires. You can stay for the period granted.

A Non O visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. It’s irrelevant of what date you intend to travel to Thailand.

When you arrive on
*****
you will be given 90 days on arrival.

You can ask
@Bra****
but I’m guessing he’ll state the same.

I was wondering if this was a requirement for application for the non-o visa or for the extension of it?

Not a requirement for the visa but an extension will only be granted up until the validity of the passport expiry date, so if it expires in 8 months for example you’d only get 8 months from a year extension.

A non O can only be extended for one year as long as you fulfil the financial requirements to do so.

I guess passport expiration date must be more than one year at the date of entry in thailand?

when you extend a non O for a year you need to have at least a year on your passport or else they will only extend to the expiry date of your passport. Get a new passport and don’t waste time on things like this

Thailand doesn’t actually have a limit of how long your passport is valid for but airlines almost certainly won’t let you board if you have less than 6 months left on a passport.
