I’m at Surat Thani immigration, I travelled out of Thailand and I asked before leaving if I needed to do a new TM30 on my return and they said no. I went to immigration last week to get a residency certificate and a different immigration officer said that I must do a new TM30 as I’d been to Hua Hin recently. So it really depends who you talk to!

Just to clarify, the re entry permit is also valid for a year?
