I am simply pointing something out gained from experience that others may find helpful..

Many people travel to SE Asian destinations because they are more affordable and better value for your money ..

But Singapore certainly doesn't fit into that category..

If you can afford to go and pay whatever it costs then by all means enjoy your trip...

But I expect many people on these forums like to know about the more affordable options

Very expensive hotels and food etc...

And very limited and expensive nightlife as well..

I would choose almost any other neighboring country before Singapore..

Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam or even Malaysia

By the way..

Singapore is probably the most expensive destination you could choose for a short flight out of Thailand .

Do some research on Phnom Penh Cambodia as that's often a short cheap flight from Bangkok..

You will need a visa to enter Cambodia but visa on arrival is available for most passport countries or you can apply online say a week or so before you travel and save the hassle of lining up at the visa on arrival immigration desk..

Phnom Penh has quite a good nightlife and bar scene and it's relatively cheap for a short stay..

Vietnam could also be an option but depending on your passport country you may require a visa before you enter Vietnam (British passport holders for example don't require a visa for Vietnam and get 45 days entry on arrival) but many other countries require a visa prior to entering...

HCMC probably the best choice for a short visit and stay in District 1 near Bui Vien walking street for some nightlife and plenty of hotel options.

Apply for a visa at a Thailand embassy in your home country before you enter Thailand..

Problem solved

As soon as you leave the previous excemption is canceled..

As soon as you re-enter a new 60 days starts again...

You will be ok, don't worry

You can declare yourself a non resident for tax purposes.. your choice

But you would only do that in a situation where you have overseas income and paying tax in another country and don't want that income also subject to Australian taxation as well.

That's my understanding anyway..

It's true you will always have Citizenship of Australia unless you declare you are now a citizen of another country..

However, Citizenship status, and Residency Status and Tax payer Status are not the same thing so just make sure you are asking the right question..

You can still be a citizen of Australia (hold an Australian passport) but no longer be a permanent resident..

And you can also declare yourself a non resident for tax purposes if you are working overseas and paying tax in a different country..

So you need to be careful what rules and conditions you are referring too.

I don't see a problem with your itinerary..

As long as you are leaving each time before your 60 days expires you will receive another 60 excemption entry each time you enter Thailand.

As long as you have proof of a flight to exit Thailand within 60 days it doesn't matter to the Thai immigration doesn't care where you are going as long as you are leaving the country.
