he spent 6 months in French Polynesia so it was easier for him to renew his passport while being on his island rather than going to the French embassy in Bangkok

he kept his old passport. And that is the reason of the confusion Read my comment above ☺️🥰 thank you for your advice

when he left Tahiti he showed the old passport. (Still valid for 2 years but the Thai immigration asked him to renew it because not enough pages left ) in French Polynesia he was retained by the customs who saw in their system that he was registered under another passport. After a time that seemed very long, they told him not to show anymore his old passport ever. My husband is 80 years old and not stupid at all ( thanks for the nice opinion ) but just confused with his 2 passports and stressed by the incident. I wish everybody could at this age make alone such a long and exhausting journey between his 2 homes. 3 days traveling, 5 airports + spending 22 hours in Taipei airport waiting for a connecting flight. Who never makes a weird mistake ? Please be indulgent. But I agree it is a stupid mishap.

I will let you know what will happen next

I did a research for my husband who is 77. Apparently the only one for people over 75 is Pacific Cross, but it is about 3000€ a year.
