Went to apply for a multi entry visa in Oz yesterday using last years form.

New form now.

Price has risen, $275 up from $245.

Also now need a bank statement showing $8000 for the last six months.

Damn 'beg packers'.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application process for a multi-entry visa for Thailand has recently changed, including an increase in the application fee from $245 to $275, and a new requirement for a bank statement showing a balance of $8000 for the last six months. Comments from users suggest inconsistency in strictness based on location, with some sharing experiences of quicker approvals at the Hobart consulate. There is also a discussion about the value of multi-entry versus single-entry visas, with some expats noting that single entries may be more cost-effective depending on circumstances. Overall, users emphasized the impact of rising visa fees and changing regulations.

Looking at a knee replacement and other things before I go for the retirement visa.

So at this stage the multi is the way to go.

Still Cannot see the value in a multi entry from Oz.

I've always used singles up to getting my retirement extension recently.

Some countries yes... works ok.

At about 6750 baht you can do a fair bit with your single entry plus extension.

Plus you can jump out and come back with equivalent length of stay.

Possibly cheaper?

I'm not doing the exact maths.

But $55 for a single plus a 30 day extension for 1900 baht.

With a multiple entry you have the above.

Have to leave.

Choice or planned.

Come back.

Not forgetting a re entry permit before you leave.1200 at any international airport.

I know if you have to have a intended break out of LOS a multi sounds like a good idea.

But its only valid for six months...

Our honorary consul in Melbourne and his family are hiking prices up.

Plus you have limited options for visas.

And you have to wait two days.

If you go to the Tassie (Hobart) consular he’s not strict at all...and gives you the visa 10 minutes after you arrive

I did it only a few months ago

If you have a look at the Thai embassy website in Canberra, it has the details of the Hobart consular website and contact details...basically its a home of a Thai national who helps out the embassy... I don’t know if he will grant a visa without having met the requirements of income... he’s just easy going and very quick, as in issues a visa in 10 minutes while you wait...
