in Vientiane and Savannakhet an interview is mandatory. Everyone has to go through it. In other countries only if they have a suspicion

It's very unusual that the appointment is next week, because you usually get an email in the afternoon and have to show up for the interview the next day. The appointments are scheduled at such short notice so that people who are already back in Thailand don't have the opportunity to travel to Laos so quickly. What I also find quite strange is that there's a counter where you can pay the 10,000 baht every morning. You must know this counter because you paid the 10,000 baht there. So why don't you just go there and talk to the person at the counter? That makes the most sense. Something is not right about your story.

You should do it because I have a philosophy that everything has to be very smooth and not leave any room for an attack so that the visa just slides through

Okay, I just understand your intention. Then you should follow your friend and do exactly what he did and, if possible, submit the exact same documents that he submitted and then just hope for the best.

The whole worldwide mess caused by all the customs tariffs and all the other problems has a huge impact on Thailand's tourism. If you annoy foreigners with things like this, you'll have even fewer loyal DTV holders and then you'll get nothing out of it.

3.5×4.5 cm. But when you upload it, it automatically says whether it is accepted or not. So, there's relatively little you can do wrong, except for it being blurry. Of course, it should be clear and ideally a professional photo. I went to a photo studio and they put the pictures on a USB stick for me.

As Greg already said, if they see that you have traveled from India to Vietnam or Indonesia, then the visa consular officers will also wonder why you did not apply in India and will become suspicious and may look at your submitted documents a little more closely. From my experience here on the Facebook group, I have to say that applying in your home country is always safer than in the neighboring countries of Thailand. Is there any reason why you don't want to apply in India?

Cambodia is a communist country. Life is completely different from our western performance driven societies. Life just flows along. In my experience, many employees in Thai consulates outside of Thailand are locals. So it's possible that they worked a little slower before the holidays and had a bit of a backlog to work through after the holidays, or maybe they took a bridge day, and none of that is that important in Cambodia. Just try to adapt to the pace of life there. Enjoy your time and try to book the hotel day by day

Of course he can apply from Bali, he can also apply from any other place in Indonesia, but the visa processing takes place in Jakarta and any interviews will also take place in Jakarta, that's what I wanted to say. I'm not panicking anyone, but here in the FB group is a report from someone who was invited to an interview in Jakarta. You can read it. I'd rather prepare for the worst-case scenario than have real panic later.

By the way, you no longer apply at the consulate in Bali, but only in Jakarta. You can stay in Bali, but there's a risk that you might be invited to an interview, which I could imagine happening in your case if you're traveling with your whole family and then have to fly to Jakarta, because that would obviously incur additional costs. The overstay itself probably won't cause any problems because it was only three days and you paid for it, so everything is covered.
