What do you fill in at "place of issue"? Most passports or maybe all of them are using the term "authority" for the issuing authority. My German passport lists the city and the mayor as the issuing authority. I googled other passports online, and many don't even list the city name, just the issuing authority. So what did you enter here? Just the country where the passport was issued, or did you copy exactly what's listed under "Authority" in your passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When filling out the "place of issue" on your visa application, it is recommended to enter exactly what is listed under the 'Authority' or 'Issuing Authority' in your passport. Most users agree that accurately copying the information as it appears, without modifications, helps prevent any potential issues or rejections with your application.

I only wrote what is listed under ‘authority’, and I also have a German passport.

Danke Sara, I will write that too

Just manually copy and paste whatever letters and/or numbers are written after the two dots on the Place of Issue in your passport. Might be a city name, an authority name, a code, it doesn't matter as long as what you write and what it says matches 100%

thank you. But on passports they don't name it "place of issue". They name that field "authority". But I got it now. I will copy it exactly into the e-Visa form.

Ohh, hence the confussion. Many countries (including mine) use the wording "place of issue", no "authority" at all.

My new passport was issued in Bangkok but I'm from Europe. Place/authority says 'Ministry of Foreign Affairs'.

I have a German passport that I renewed in Bangkok. Under "Issuing Authority" it states "Botschaft Bangkok", which is exactly what I wrote on my application and was approved.

I wrote exactly as the passport. So for example my u.s passport says authority is "United States department of state", i wrote exactly that. I think of it like you only submit one form of id which is your passport, so they can only match your application to that.

Ok Thank you. I will write exactly what is stated on my passport under authority

In my case I got my (Dutch) passport in Spain but it was issued in the Netherlands. Look at section 12 in EU passport: authority. That's what I filled in for my application.

Unfortunately, passports in the EU are not standardized. I just checked dutch passports and the Authority is under section 12 and in german passports it is under section 9. But thats not so important under which section it is. So, you didn't specify the country separately, you just copied the exact entry under section 12 from your Dutch passport, right?

Correct, in my case it said the some ministry and that application was approved. I guess they simply verify with your passport.

I can't remember for sure, and I did not make screenshots of my application before sending it. I thought I would still be able to access it once it's submitted. However, I am pretty sure that I entered the name of the authority translated in English.
