I read all the answers with interest since your situation illuminates a glaring gap in the Thai "retirement" visa process. The bank is following the law, they are NOT permitted to open an account unless you have the visa. The fact that you need the account to get that visa is not their prob -its the govt's.. whiich means 'its our problem"! Youtube has vids of lawyers talking about it. According to my research, your other comments are right: keep going from branch to branch.

I hear ya..& I have suffered greatly. Gave up in April & went to Florida's Space Coast -paradise!!, but ZERO avail. for rentals less than 5 bedroom at any price. I hate the stupid suburb that NYC has become and I'll do anything to leave (if you saw it in the 80s/90s, you'd be appalled!!) Thx!

Loved the KLM part. I wasn't as wise and picked Qatar Airways. I am pretty close to trashing my Qatar Airways ticket. They screwed up my original Jan 9 arrival. Kept cancelling flights in the spring. Then on Thursday, they refused my New York State issued PCR test. I called the cops, then they accepted it...but it was too late (only 5 min past check-in close). While waiting for the cops to show up, I watched them close check-in on 3 Indian families waiting in line -all were there before I was. Impossible to contact. I can't wait for POV vids from the World Cup in Qatar next year-WILL be comical.
