on the flip side of that, I know 2 people that are on ED visas that were grilled for 15mins+ returning to Thailand through BKK in the last year alone, one was nearly denied entry. However she begged the IO to talk to the school, as she had only just started 4 weeks prior (IO didn't believe her) but had to return home for an unexpected family death and had only actually studied Thai for 3 weeks. She was granted entry but explicitly told by the supervising IO that if she was to leave Thailand again and return without the ability to understand questions in Thai and respond in Thai she would be denied entry and made to fly back to the states.

Electronic Travel Authorization. When it is finally implemented, you will need to submit an ETA online to gain access to the country before coming if you are going to use the Visa exemption.

Apparently it will be viewed by an IO and your entry will then be Authorised or Denied before you fly. (In all honesty, it will probably just end up like every other countries such as Malaysia, EU etc, it will be an automated system, not a manual review system for the border control e-gates and if there is a problem with your passport or the system flags you as suspicious, you will get kicked to a manned IO booth rather than having 100s of IO reviewing 100s of thousands of applications a day.)

A TR visa will only slightly increase your chances... With your history this year and being flagged already, you're still likely to be denied (if you can even get the visa) without a proper long-term visa or the use of an agent that can get you through the airport without issue.

You cannot be in thailand while applying for an e-visa of any type... It literally tells you on the e-visa website that you must be in the country you are applying from.

As for the information you need, you need to contact the embassy.

thank you for the correction, I haven't seen those posts.

from reading across multiple platforms of people's success and unsuccessful DTV applications, a lot of embassies are requesting to see tax returns. So of you don't want delays it's better to just include it in your submission.

@Ma**
an ED visa isnt a tourist visa and its very easy to open an account on an ED visa, youre comparing apples to oranges. The vast majority of people opening banks on tourist visas are having to use an agent because of banking regulation changes over the last few years. The vast majority of banks will outright refuse anyone on a tourist visa or its equivalent, sure you probably can find a bank that will accept it, but it's going to take you days on end and probably more money than paying an agent as the ones that do, will likely require you to purchase insurance.

We if you leave without a re-entry permit you won't have a valid extension anymore.

I hope you are actually learning Thai too because on re-entry you are going to get questioned in Thai and only Thai and if you cannot answer they will deny your entry.

When it comes to business matters outside of the actual visa, you need a lawyer not a visa agent.
