That's fine if you have reserves beyond that. But don't get married, don't have kids and don't support your Thai family. Not an easy thing watching family die because you they don't have the money and you do, unless you have a heart of stone. And if you are in a relationship budget for the Thai parents too. Her mum needs an op, you going to sit on your 2 mill and watch her die? And trust me, for lots of conditions in public hospitals, you don't have a chance.
No one seems to have a clue what ongoing cancer treatment costs. In Thailand for some serious but treatable cancers you are talking millions and millions of baht. If you live long enough you are likely to get cancer. If you can't afford it, don't come. If you want to die in 'paradise' on a budget, come by all means. But you are likely to die broke and early. Thailand is not for those on a very modest budget, unless you want to live like an ordinary Thai and take your chances with the public health system.
I agree, my medical history is complex. I still got offered cover. You don't need cover if you have enough to self insure. That's an option, but anything really serious would drain a lot of cash. And we are talking millions of baht potentially.
You cant live in Thailand 4 months of the year. No father would inflict that on young lungs. Cancer rates in young people are sky high in Thailand, and its lung cancer that is killing them.
I fear his remark is meant as a joke. Freelancer is a term some expats use to describe women who sell them selves privately rather than out of a bar. Ignore the creeps. And the creep.
Of course I know that, but there's little chance of a full time dance role in the average Thai school. But it could be an extra offered beyond a TEFL job, that would enable her to do what she loves and maybe build on that.
If its for a genuine reason, Ok, if its just cant be arsed then it creates a climate that just makes it difficult for the rest of us who do obey the rules.
