this is bullshit, if you are divorced in the UK and you have custody for the child, Thai court can't overrule this dissision or any other court in other countries. And there is no problem traveling with the kid as he is the legal father even he wouldn't be divorced he can travel.

having wife and kid in Thailand is enough reason to come, you don't need a visa if you come only for 3 weeks. The questioning bc of course they don't know the reason and may be they will questioning again but there will not be any problem with entering Thailand

This is the reason why there is a dtv visa as it proves for this kind of work you don't need any work permit and in fact there is no work permit in no country in the world.
