More discrimination - agree with Julian Lewis above. Thailand doesn't want you; just drop your money off at the airport & sod off. Banks, in particular, treat their farang customers like terrorists despite going in every month for 10 years.
If they can make it complicated they will. I am on my 22nd extension of stay. I submit the same copies of stuff about SIX times a year with 90 day reporting; re-entry permits. Most of this information has not changed in TEN years - Thai Immigration contributes massively to Global warming by insisting every farang has a small forest chopped up to provide papers that they have had multiple times over the years. Have they heard of Databases?
and been told there is a 60 VoA. 'There has been talk / rumour of reducing the 60 days exempt to 30 days. This is presently ONLY a rumour but keep your eyes open on AN in case that does happen.'
I am talking about Visa on Arrival - the one that millions of tourists want. Compare this, 'As of June 2025, Thailand's Visa on Arrival (VoA) policy allows eligible travelers to stay for 15 days. This duration remains unchanged despite recent adjustments to visa exemption rules for certain nationalities.
Can the Visa on Arrival Be Extended?
Yes, a VoA can be extended once for an additional 7 days by applying at a Thai Immigration Office. The extension fee is 1,900 Thai Baht, and approval is at the discretion of the immigration officer.' Compare the Thai rigmarole to your 90 above in Vietnam. I was trying to explain why tourist numbers in one country are increasing, whilst Thailand's are going down the plughole.
If you are 82; not tech savvy; do not own a mobile phone; it becomes an unnecessary further obstacle to a holiday in Thailand. So I'm off to Vietnam which is full of simple people spending money, whilst Thailand is dying.
Thanks for this, Brandon. I'm going back tomorrow in the hope I will be excused the charge as they were closed. It seems a bit unnecessary as I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks which re-sets the 90 day clock.
