TLDR : Answer Summary
Holders of the DTV visa generally do not face major issues at immigration in Suvarnabhumi airport. Most posts indicate that entry is smooth, with basic questions like duration of stay or accommodation being the norm. However, experiences can vary depending on the immigration officer's mood or approach, with some humorous anecdotes suggesting challenges related to cooking skills or Thai language. While many have reported quick passage, there is a consensus that scrutiny may increase over time, especially regarding financial proofs for remote work.
It usually takes me 2 minutes; I say the 2 magic words 'guerre Lao (it rhymes with where now and I am shown to the front of the shortest queue. It means 'old already.'
I've had immigration officer spoke to me in Thai, asking where I'm heading, after she saw my DTV visa. I was able to answer in Thai and she was happy. But it's a digital nomad visa with at least half a million baht on account, not cooking or education, so there is no reason I should speak Thai.
Have been on a DTV visa for about 10 months, US passport. Entered about 12 times at BKK. Most I've ever gotten is "how long are you staying" or "where are you staying." Maybe 30 second delay.
I just got my DTV this morning so when I go throught immigration will my Visa pop up when they scan my Passport or do I present my physical DTV to them?
I was watching the person in front of me sailing through in seconds, no questions asked - on DTV visa. It took me much longer especially to check in with the airline and go through immigration at Suvarnabhumi airport on a “proper” Non-O visa: still valid and a re-entry permit. But i do believe the scrutiny will increase as we progress through the years of the new DTV visa especially the financials and proof of payments for ongoing work if remote work DTV.
Most posts seem to indicate that there generally isn’t any issues entering. There have been a couple of posts where people have been questioned but eventually let through.
I guess it’s like many entry issues. If the IO is having a bad hair day you may have issues.
