If you know someone that can help you with the paperwork I found immigration was hugely helpful. Very inexpensive to setup on your own if you have a business ready

What happens if you overstay your visa in Thailand?

I had a damaged passport and had to overstay while waiting for a new one, I was able to file a police report and get a letter explaining, I was fined for the days but they didn't stamp me and I wasn't worried about being "caught"
