TLDR : Answer Summary
Overstaying a visa in Thailand incurs a fine of 500 baht per day, with a maximum cap of 20,000 baht. If caught by police, one can face arrest, deportation, and potential long-term blacklisting from re-entering Thailand. Upon exiting the country, travelers must pay the accumulated fine and will receive an overstay stamp in their passport, which could affect future travel. Despite the risks, some individuals have managed to address overstays by applying for visa extensions, but these may be denied if prior extensions have been used.

You pay the fine at the airport when you leave and you get an overstay stamp in your passport

Thanks everyone.
I had a flight purchased awhile ago to leave the country when my visa end but my parents decided to fly in to Thailand during the worst time (when my visa is about to end) and wants to stay a few days extra before going to another country with me so I’m just trying to figure out all this with the most convenient way going forward.

And out come all the dumb “oh look at me I’m think I’m amusing” pointless drivel and as usual all from men. Need new group called idiots responding guide to thai visas. You could all post there and leave the this group to the grown ups.

I had a damaged passport and had to overstay while waiting for a new one, I was able to file a police report and get a letter explaining, I was fined for the days but they didn't stamp me and I wasn't worried about being "caught"
I knew I'd be without my passport, you are supposed to get a police letter if you are on Thailand without your ID

If you get stopped by the BiB before you depart it makes for a miserable time…if you don’t get stopped you need to prepare ฿500 per day that you overstayed not to exceed ฿20,000… good luck and next time stay up with your days

You get arrested. Locked away and you're never seen again
I do suspect that if that was an actual punishment that it would be fairly difficult to repeat.

Its people who overstay make it difficult for us genuine people who stay here.
Get it organised. Its not difficult to go to immigration and pay 1,900THB. If you have enough money to stay here on overstay then you must have enough to stay here legally.
You keep saying the same thing every time this question comes up. I dont see how someone elses overstay makes it difficult for the so called " genuine " people . Do you think all expats or tourists are going to rounded up and have their credentials checked because some person overstayed a few days ? Where or how does the " difficulty " manifest ?
Oh you called me a clown 😭, well that answers my question then . 🤔🤪

Just hand your passport to the immigration officer at the airport and say, "C̄hạn pĕn h̄nī̂ khuṇ" (I owe you money.) If it is a few days, it is nothing to worry about. A few years ago I was a 5 day overstay and just paid the fine. No overstay stamp was put in my passport. This may be a new thing.
that's interesting because they have to stamp the overstay in your passport and the paid fine proof. 4 years ago i overstayed 1 day (i didn't realized my slow boat tour have one more night in Thailand because we crossing the border) Maximum you can't understand the stamp because it's in thai. I never, ever heard anyone who's overstayed don't get a stamp....
Generally embassies won't involve themselves in matters of visa abuse. It's up to the individual to buy their ticket out, it's not the duty of the taxpayer. Family & friends can assist, otherwise it's a long stint in the IDC, and it's not a nice place to be so I'm advised! 😆
As far as I understand , you won't be able to get out of IDC without your embassy being involved. You can't just use the internet or call a travel agent to book a flight,it's not as simple as that or people would do it within 10 minutes of being there . Your embassy is informed and they are the ones that sort out your way out the country.
I know someone that has been through the process in Thailand , back in the 80 s .
I don't think your embassy has much say if you've committed a crime. And visa overstay in Thailand is categorised as a crime. As they say, you do the crime you do the time! But you're only in detention for as long as it takes you to organise a flight out of the country
well I understood that is were the embassy are involved. The embassy visits you,and helps you sort flights and paperwork, the quicker you get the visit ,the quicker you get out of there . No ?

4 days overstay is 2,000 baht (assuming you get to the airport and that it’s 4 or more days you’re taking about).
An extension of stay is 1,900 baht.
Even if you’ve had one extension already you could still apply for another one - which would be denied and you’d be given 7 days to leave the country. That’s also 1,900 baht.
You save 100 baht either way and run no risk (however small) of being caught on overstay.
Nice one. Would have never thought about applying a second time for a regular extension that is only granted once in order to get additional 7 days. Edge case, but interesting.

You get arrested, deported and blacklisted for a long time, if caught. If not, just 500 baht a day, to pay at the point of exit.

500₿ per day fine.
You'll get an overstay stamp in your passport that could effect your ability to enter some countries in the future.
If you're stopped by the police you'll be arrested and banned from Thailand.
you said if your were caught in Thailand on over stay issue and you will be banned from entering other countries by who?is that what you meant if am not mistaking, i think your first paragraph doesn't address the issue rather other of your write up did
