I would just upload a blank page written on it “NO PRIVATE PENSION” you have to submit something -
as long as he has the funds on his bank statement. Return flight. The application comes back quite quick approval in about 5 days. However if they want more info they send an email then there’s a delay by about four days in them answering again. so he needs to leave himself enough time applying- Just incase. Otherwise like someone said, just come in on 30 days stamp and extend.
He would have had a have a letter from DWP saying how much state pension he gets.
Applying in UK the 60 day Evisa will come back quick takes about

days to process once you’ve applied. You can do it upload easily on your phone & Quite straight forward. The LTR OA takes longer I found more complex and people said to me why didn’t I just apply for the O vIsa I wouldn’t have had to have certain documents. I would give yourself at least a month if applying for one as it can go back and forwards by email if not right and you need 4 days inbetween waiting for acceptance of the additional items requested: feel free to PM me, if I can help you I will. I would say if you’re having problems with timescale like we did, apply for a separate 60 day application & extend 30 days when you get to thailand. I feel your pain !
Heather Dales no idea 🙈 lol. We just went for the one year over 50’s retirement visa on the website. It would have been a hell of a lot easier not having to get any of it !
I think it’s cheaper to apply in your own country if you’re ok doing the application yourself. As long as you can prove residency in your own country and supply a bank account with appropriate funds. The biggest amount of money you pay is for the compulsory Thai insurance. Which you can buy online via the visa application. But allow at least a month if you are applying this way, as if you submit & your paperwork is returned by email there’s a 5 day wait inbetween for them to look at it. The headache was getting a GP letter for my partner with the listed diseases. The DBS check I just did a basic one & they accepted. We’ve done the OA retirement visa application both ways now and I’m not using the agent in Thailand again. It was a bit back and forward doing application myself in uk but definately worth it.
Yes a requirement of the 1 yr retirement visa - we used thai embassy in UK. We had letter done by zoom.doc online. As our GP was useless but initially they only gave us a certificate saying no diseases. Thai embassy sent back and You actually need the letter stating that you do not have any of these diseases/conditions - list of the diseases with the doctors official Stamp and signature.
With the 60 day tourist long stay visa you don’t need the letter, it was alot easier.
