TLDR : Answer Summary
Applicants for Thailand's retirement visa, particularly the Non-OA category, must fulfill health testing requirements, which are consistent across various Thai embassies. Many expats have shared experiences indicating that while some medical certificates may be easily obtained from local doctors or online services, requirements can vary depending on the applicant's country of origin, with some facing challenges in getting their general practitioners to comply. Generally, these health declarations state the absence of specified diseases and are necessary for not just retirement visas but also other long-term visas, work permits, and various official applications in Thailand.

  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.

This is usually required when you apply for a work permit in Thailand.

In Austria end beginning of december 2021 I had to it. First get my GP to sign and stamp the downloaded form. Second get ir certified by ministry of health. Third get this certified by the foraign ministry and then send back. Visa approved in less than 24 hours afterwards. I checked 2 months ago and in vienna the same reqirement is still on.
Jordi ********
I had the same in The Netherlands during covid visa regulation. You sign a form that you don't have it and then the doctor signs off on it. Its nothing. Most of these hardly exist and the tests are very expensive.

Normal tests - sometimes a simple low key local clinic in Thailand will provide results even without testing. It certainly was like that for me.

Even in Saudi Arabia I was told to produce a stool test. I couldn’t so, they wrote it down for me.
Paul ********
Not required for my visa from UK
Joachim ********
A requirement if you apply for an O-A Visa, yes. If applying for an O-Visa, no.
Kool *******
This is also a requirement for the work permit in Thailand.
Steve ********
In Australia your own GP will do it without batting an eyelid. Bulk-billed under Medicare so no charge.
Phil ******
@Christo ****************
yes this is quite normal

I got knocked back on the syphilis.

Yes, USA same. Doctor laughed, and signed it.... no worries

@Dean **********
mine laughed too!! 🤣

This is not a requirement if you apply for a O visa based on retirement. Just come on a 60 day tourist visa, extend that and apply for the o visa when you are here. No medical or insurance required
Joseph *********
It's a standard question for the medical.

While outside Thailand, to comply for a Non-O, I went to a gov clinic and explained this was a CYA type doc to satisfy an immigration bureaucracy outside the country and that they would never be responsible because the TH gov does not double check the health status of the applicant. Got it for free, signed and stamped. A few years later, needed one of those again to renew my Thai driver's lic. Went to a generic clinic where the counter lady took my blood pressure (sign of life?), and gave me the above cert, signed and stamped. Cost was 200 THB, <$6 US. Good luck!

you did this in Thailand , right?

A few years ago I was in TH as a tourist but qualified for a Non-O, and had to go to Kuala Lumpur to get it. One of the requirements was that health cert, so I got one from here, while I was in TH, took it to KL, and the Thai embassy there accepted it. Maybe that was a stunt, but I figured I'd try and it worked.

the 2nd health cert in Thailand.

Yes a requirement of the 1 yr retirement visa - we used thai embassy in UK. We had letter done by zoom.doc online. As our GP was useless but initially they only gave us a certificate saying no diseases. Thai embassy sent back and You actually need the letter stating that you do not have any of these diseases/conditions - list of the diseases with the doctors official Stamp and signature.

With the 60 day tourist long stay visa you don’t need the letter, it was alot easier.
Andreas *********
these were always the requirements for an application to the Non-Imm-O/A Longstay Visa. . . . . . . . . . for the application to the Non-Imm-O retirement visa, they never ask for such a requirement
Dave *********
For anyone applying from the UK, GPs do not have to sign this as it's not an NHS certificate/requirement. My Dr refused point blank to sign despite being registered at the practice for years and I had to go private... Crazy...
Jay ******
Very normal. All long term visas, driver’s licenses, & many other applications in Thailand require the health certificate stating you don’t have these. Really simple to get from a clinic.
Herma *******
Last year we have our blood tested for this. Our doctor send us to the hospital to get our blood tested, because he could not sign a paper without testing.

Elephantiasis? Are you serious?
Burnard ************
Your Doctor can just sign off on those. Kinda obvious. I don't know why any of those would need a test.

But no, I don't have real experience, sorry.
Elizabeth ********
We have To do this for our health requirement for work permit as well. We have a non O. It’s part of the health requirement that we do here for yearly work visa for our volunteer work.

@Elizabeth *******
u pay also 400 euro each person?
Peter ****************
@Christo ****************
Can't you go/ask another hospital/doctor ? 400€, pfff. Or is the 400€ maybe the amount for real testing all those diseases ?
Christo *****************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Peter ***************
Peter ****************
@Christo ****************
Christo *****************

@Peter ***************
Peter ****************
@Christo ****************
OA is.

@Peter ***************
dat gaan we nu doen dus
Bonnie *********
It’s a requirement for every country.

Get Non O in Thailand. Easier

Yes.

It’s standard , if you have a local doctor ( they have your medical records ) .. they might charge you a fee . He’s mine from. 8 years ago

Graham *******
just come on a stamp at the airport and apply through an agent here!
David ***********
Yes. I had to have those tests
Alistair ********
You worried about the 3 rd step syphilis?
Richard ********
@Alistair *******
Only after you get here!
Brandon ************
This is a requirement for OA retirement visa at every embassy. It's not an embassy requirements it's a visa requirement. Most family doctors will just sign it for you. If your doctor doesn't want to or wants to charge a lot, you can do a video call with a doctor in Thailand like Dr
@Donna *********
@ mesconsult and they'll sign it for you after a consultation online.
Jo **********
@Brandon ***********
but his post says “required tests” so how can they be done remotely send samples? if tests are required this involve some analytical work
Brandon ************
@Jo *********
because most doctors laugh at the stupidity of the form and sign it.
Jo **********
@Brandon ***********
ok that makes sense. In the Netherlands they can be stubborn. Really strange
David ****
@Brandon ***********
I attempted this option last year but the Thai embassy in Washington DC rejected it. Stated it must be signed by a US doctor. Major hassle getting a Dr to sign since they’re reluctant to cause of liability factors.
Andi ***********
@Brandon ***********
Doesn't it have to be a doctor In the country you applying from?
Brandon ************
@Andrew ********
many people have used Dr Donna to get it signed in the past. I guess it depends on the embassy
Wayne *********
@Brandon ***********
Correct it's a requirement for the OX visa at Sydney consulate. My local GP just signed it didn't do anything
