1000 baht fine. Not suggesting to do it. But they won't arrest him for 2 days. Many, many people have stayed over. I haven't. And won't. But 2 days, you will pay a small fine, be allowed back in.

didn't realize it's that expensive. I used an agent to open a bank account, and for a divorce, they were both fairly cheap. Just assumed it would be maybe 10k baht.

You're over 50. Hire an agent to get you a retirement visa. I know people will say it's so easy, you can do it on your own blah, blah, blah. But for 100-300 dollars you can have peace of mind it will be done right.
