I Have an elderly bedridden relative coming to stay in a nursing home here. If you've got a trustworthy, reliable agent in BANGKOK who's really helped you, please recommend here. I need to start the research in getting a retirement visa .

Cost of care UK £7k a month, much better care in Thailand for a fraction of that

exactly and the patients are treated with respect in the Buddhist tradition, the food is freshly cooked on the premises and the cleanliness is exemplary. And at 15-20% the cost of the Uk.

Large provinces outside of BKK are offering multiple choices of nursing homes with so much less in cost. Most of them owned by doctors/healthcare providers. There are 3 in my area, all are full service and with MDs owners /

nursing staff. Let me know if your relatives would considered it. It’s 30,000 per month all inclusive.

I found a very reasonable one already. They don't do the paperwork so this is where I need an agent to assist .

There are some excellent nursing homes in Pattaya and in Chiangmai. I’m sorry I can’t direct you to a website, but a Google search will give you info. I think your plan is very good. Good luck. And I don’t think your relative needs more than a medical visa. The nursing homes probably can give you that info.

What would be the difference being bedridden here or Australia? What would the point be, coming out here and navagating the minefield?

hopefully they take better care of the sick and elderly nowadays. 12 years ago, when my mum was sick, she received horrific care and subsequently died. The elderly lady across from her had her arms and legs tethered to the bed - she would have been about 80 and restrictive practice would not have been necessary.

My dad still lives there (in Thailand) after my mum died, so he will probably end up in an aged care facility in Thailand as I don’t see his new Thai wife looking after him.

I meant in Thailand 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thai staff in a Thai hospital killed my mum.

And Thai nurses in a Thai hospital used restraint on an elderly lady and her family would come in and argue with each other in front of everyone.
