I’ve been to Thailand the last two years and I have a hotel booked for 2 months in Patong beach. Is there a way to get an extra month without going to immigration

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around extending a stay in Thailand beyond the initial visa duration. Currently, visa exemption allows for 60 days without a visa upon arrival, with options for extensions available. To extend your stay without going to the immigration office, one could either pay a visa agent or apply for a long-term tourist visa before traveling. Suggestions highlight that direct extensions are feasible through local agents or immigration offices, though some responses imply that personal management of the extension process is straightforward.

You will need the extension but you could pay an agent to handle it. I think you still have to visit immigration though.

It is if you get caught.

Which can happen even if you aren't doing anything wrong; if cops get on a bus and start checking passports, or imm officers patrol airports and do spot checks one day.

Both have happened to me. I was not on overstay. If you're apprehended, you can get deported & blacklisted even with just a few days overstay.

Its just not worth the risk. Not if it can be avoided.

My first trip here, I applied online for a regular tourist visa, which was 60 days, and I had the option to extend for another 30 days. If they do change the visa exempt 60 days down to 30, I don't think it will affect the online evisa durations.

@Dave *******
exempt is not a visa it’s a free stamp and you can only get an extension at immigration

You really don't need an agent for an extension, it's too easy.

OK what's the easy way of not going to the immigration but also not crossing boarders? And ensure no overstay

Share it man. Since you have an easy way.

Why don't you want to go to immigration? that's where you need to go, fill in the form for an extension, pay the 1900 baht and that's it.

If you need an extension on whatever visa exemption or visa you get, just pay 1,900 Baht to a visa agent in addition to the cost of the extension.

No

Currently, visa exempt gives you 60 days if you arrive without a visa. If that changes back to 30 days, then just apply for a tourist visa before you travel to Thailand and you'll get 60 days.

I actually while in patong I went into immigration. Place was packed. I waited in line for about 45 minutes. Finally made it to the agent. He asked what I wanted. I said another 30 days. He said go back to the front and pick up a form. I went back grabbed a form it was in Thai . No place to fill it out or a pen. So I called it a day and left on my 55 days back to Bangcok and headed back to the states. I know what to do next time. I’ll have my Thai girl fill it out
