TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for visa options for themselves and their two Dutch children as they plan to relocate to Thailand with a Thai husband. Key suggestions include applying for a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, which allows for a work permit and does not have financial requirements when the spouse is male. For the children, it is recommended to obtain Thai passports, potentially simplifying their visa situation, as they may qualify as Thai nationals since one parent is Thai. Enrolling the children in an international school can also provide education and visa options. Community responses highlight the need for a Thai birth certificate and advice on the best approaches for managing visas and work permits.

My husband is only dutch since a year. And a born thai! My kids will be thai after the age of army enrollments. Because we not want to burden them with that. So that is why they will be thai after 18years old.

I saw that if the kids go to internship school, i as a parent can get an visa on that too.

And i read from you guys, that non o visa is easier with my thai partner being a man. Does it still mean i have to leave the country many times?

How about we having our own businesses (thai owned (because thai partner) but not having more thai employers, can i work ik my own company or do i need to do different constructions, like a foreign company operating in Thailand?

Love to hear more! Thanks for reacting

with a "married to a male Thai National visa" there is no 400k baht requirement because it's only for foreign man married to a Thai lady. With this visa you never have to leave Thailand. You apply online in your home country for a non O Visa married to a Thai National. After arrival you can stay 90 days Thailand, time enough to make everything ready for applying for a 12 month extension that you will need to apply for every year.

Your husband can open a business very easily and it depends on what business you want but when you are married to a Thai National you are allowed to "help" your husband behind the scenes without a work permit. Ofcourse if you want to work where everybody can see you then it's better to have some work permit.

The kids will always have a visa because your husband is Thai.

Will the kids be working too? They need a work permit.

The easiest option is get your kids Thai passports and you get a Non-O marriage Zvisa then extension. Why delay their Thai passports, it makes things much more difficult as you are finding.

You should get a Non-O based on being married to a Thai. Because you are female married to a Thai male there are no financial considerations and that visa also allows you to hold a work permit when you are ready to apply for one. If your kids are half Thai then, as I understand it, they qualify as Thai nationals and there is a specific visa for that but there are some hoops to jump through so you would do it after you are in Thailand. Might be easier to get them on ED visas to begin with if they enrol with a school

Those kids have to be registered in Thailand.It's almost the same routine as being born in Thailand except for the need to translate birth certificates and maybe some other document + I guess legalizations. You normally visit the district office in the province where the mother or in this case the father is registered.

couldn't she apply to get the kids Thai Passports therefore negating the need for visas for them. As stated she can get a non-o based on thai husband or based on thai kids once they have thai passport.

@James *******
She can apply for thai passports, but it most likely has to be done in Thailand.

wrong, she needn't be in Thailand for that. She can get Thai passports for her children at the Royal Thai Embassy The Hague. The father needs to show that they are his children that's all that's to it

I’m live in U.K. with half Thai daughter. We just got her Thai passport here in London. Much easier for her to enter Thailand using Thai passport
Beverly ***************
My grandson is half-Thai. We had to start the passport application in our home country (USA). It’s much better than waiting at a later time. The U.S. embassy in BKK would not do the application. Maybe your country is different. You should check.

@Beverly **************
I forget, but believe you have to get Thai birth certificate for them

If the children are half Thai from my understanding from someone I know who is half Thai you can get them a Thai Passport & still keep your other passport for them too which would help alot for them.

If you can get a job in an international school then they would get free/very cheap education there and would be able to get a visa that way.

I don't want to give to much advice on it that's nit necessarily the answers you need but the children going through a visa with their father assuming he has legal stay in the country will be the best and easiest route for them & yourself x

Hello sorry I've only just got the notifications through, you can hold more than 1 passport I know the UK try to be funny about it but there's no legal law that you can't I can co firm how easy or hard this would be if you like? You do not need to be native English but you do need a degree to get into one and get paid enough however you can get a TEFL and work in any Thai school or do online teaching there's options out there don't listen to the negative comments I have for so many years and stopped me achieving my goals but now I'm just focusing on what I can do and listen to people who actually know what they are doing and have done it xx

currently they hold Dutch passport, yes. It doesn't mean they're not half-Thai, as their father is a Thai. They can easily get their Thai passport also.

their father is thai with two nationalities. It is paperwork. But we can give them their thai passport. Only we have also a boy, and we do not want them(thai) to be able to enroll him into the army at 18. So we wait till then.

my son is Thai/British but was born in Thailand, not sure if that made it easier. I have a Non O visa based around my son, you could apply for the same visa based around your marriage to a a Thai national. I'm not sure what the best would be for the kids though, to save on costs of visas and the hassle of completing them it may be worthwhile reaching out to the group owners to see if they can offer advice. It may end up being easier getting a Thai passport for the kids.

If the children aren't fluent in Thai, you'll need lots of money for international school

International School is/are expensive in Bangkok. But one my nephew has his son in, Thai Sikh International School (TSI) Bangkok isn’t outrageously expensive. And the International school in Ko Samui also is less expensive.
