He said he was aware of the Thai Elite Visa but will not consider spending such funds until such time as he can no longer remain here on repeated tourists visas.

I remember Lopez commented in an earlier string about foreigners should be allowed to stay in Thailand long term while on tourist visas. Then he claimed to have significant savings and did not need to work. It seems that has changed.

You should not be working in Thailand while on a tourist visa. Pretty much common sense!

Work permits are employer specific, some people ignore the fact and work in other companies. But they are not supposed to.
