TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the chances of a Thai national, specifically the wife of the original poster, applying for a 10-year multiple entry Visitor visa to the UK. Several commenters provided insights suggesting a good chance of approval, especially if there is a record of prior successful visits without overstays. It is mentioned that while there is a 10-year option, it generally involves demonstrating sufficient financial support for the visa application. Cost considerations and the importance of thorough documentation were also noted, with one commenter sharing their successful experience of obtaining a similar visa. It's emphasized that the application process primarily falls under the jurisdiction of UKBA rather than visa service companies.

It should be no problem getting a 5-year or 10-year Visitor visa, if she has a record of visitor visas, with no overstays. All Visitor visas are ME, although she will only be allowed to stay in the UK for a maximum 6 months in one year.

I remember when you did the 6 month visa and how happy you were when you got it. I have no talent for doing paperwork but I’ve done 3 tourist and a temporary residence visa for my wife in the past 3 years (for Australia). I find if you get the application and study it, understand what they want and produce the paperwork you will have a good chance. As always, you put the money up long before you get an answer. Good luck Paul.

If people aren't lawyers, I would take any advice they give with a pinch of salt (a bit like the earlier poster who said that 10 year visas weren't possible simply because they had never heard of it). Very few understand the actual requirements, and whilst many do get visas without extensive documentation, this will make the process into more of a lottery than it need be. If you are familiar with the old military phrase PPPPPP then it is well adhered to

Yes Mark as i said we got a 6 mth tourist visa earlier this year no problem my wifes got all eviedence to return to Thailand as you stated some say this isnt and not nessasary . I know we provided over and above even 10 yrs of photo evidence Im pretty confident but wanted to hear from someone who obtained one

It isn't a particularly difficult process but it does need some planning and some time expended on it in order to ensure the best chance of success

Any Thai documentation provided such as Blue House Book Baan, Chanote, Vehicle Blue Book etc. should be translated into English. Don't provide documentation and expect it to be translated by VFS in Thailand. They won't do it, and no translation means that the document is unlikely to be accepted

Unless you are very confident with dealing with the documentation required, I would recommend that you have a lawyer or visa professional assist you with the process. A lot of people are rejected because they fail to provide sufficient documentation etc. You should be prepared to provide a covering letter with quite a lot of detail about your relationship with your wife, her family, your family, your life together and purpose to visit UK, how you/she will be supported during that time, and why she should return to Thailand (previous visits is always a good indicator etc.). Some may argue that this isn't or shouldn't be necessary, but my recommendation would always be for too much rather than too little. Supporting documentation should be as extensive as possible and if possible letters and supporting documentation, photos etc. from family in UK

Long-term visit visas

If you can prove you need to visit the UK regularly over a longer period, you can apply for a visa that lasts 2, 5 or 10 years. You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit.

No such thing as a 10 year visa for the uk , ok , this what happened to me .. I got my girlfriend a 6 month holiday visa back in 2003 , after her going back after about 4 months , then when 6 month had past we applied a got another 6 months ( there must be a 6 month gap ) on her her second visit , we went to Croydon and applied for a residence permit , if you fit the criteria ( she is not allowed to work therefore you will need to show you can support her , Home , bank , etc ) .. a year later we applied for a work permit , and permanent status , English test etc .

14 years later she’s still there ( we’ve swopped places she’s stays in the uk and I live perm in Thailand 😉👍🏻😂)

VFS simply process the documentation. Beyond checking all the boxes in the application are completed, and compiling the documentation supporting the application, they have no actual involvement in the visa issuing process, which is always done by a UKBA ECO (Entry Clearance Officer) either in-station (BKK) or in UK

Well, most businesses do levy a charge for their services or else they can't remain in-business. Whether or not you decide to engage their services or try doing it on your own, is your choice. Good luck Paul!
