I got very muddled in my head about the TM30 and 90 day reporting. Despite having a very clear reminder set on my phone to do BOTH for some reason I only submitted the TM30.
I realised my mistake about 2 months later and tried to do it online but got an email back saying go to the local Immigration Office. Of course I got the 2000 baht fine.
I was livid but it was all down to my stupid self. What a waste of money.
I have made myself feel a little bit better by telling myself how much money I save versus the UK by living here and also by knowing that (hopefully) my bad experience will ensure I don't mess up again.
I expect there are many of us that make these silly mistakes. I read recently some guy messed up his visa extension because he forgot to purchase a re-entry permit I guess that's a bigger and worse mistake 🙄🙏🏼
I spent extensive time researching at the time and everything I saw made it pretty impossible due to the import taxes. I would be interested in reading any link you have to this information.
Import taxes whereby the officer will class every single item as 'a luxury' will leave you with a huge bill or you can just do what they want you to do and give it all up to them...that's how it works.
Even if you are married to a Thai I think from memory they have to have been living with you in your country about 2 years for them to claim exemption. Either way it's not worth the headache.
- you can't get SMS bank OTP codes which was the problem.
I have solved it now with Vyke which is excellent and works well for peanuts. Very impressed with it just had a few teething problems at the start because I didn't know what I was doing 555
- thank you for Chris..I have resolved the issue but I am too tired to explain been on it since 14.00 Thai time. Will message tomorrow when recovered 555 🙄😴
