That’s also why several people at one point chose to cancel their extension of stay based on a Non O-A, leave and re-enter on exemption or tourist visa and start from scratch with applying for a regular Non O in country.
If he already been warned at the immigration about his stays and don’t seems to be a genius tourist, I don’t think a tourist visa would make any difference.
Ok, thank you for sharing. I guess you’ve then been quite lucky regarding this. I just have car in Norway but didn’t bring or get my IDP for this. So I ended up taking both licenses from scratch the thai way. Two theoretical test with 50 questions and 45 correct answers. Driving test for both in a track at the DPL, simple test regarding sight and reaction. Health and residence certificate. 700 baht fee for both. In Buriram, just me an a US guy among all the Thais. Since then I’ve renewed both four times, just residence and health certificate and this simple test regarding sight and reaction.
Where was this? And you only had your Norwegian license? Was this both car and motorcycle? I’ve had both licenses in Thailand for 10 years and I need to renew every second year as I’m not on a Non O visa.
Seems a bit strange, I also have a Norwegian driver license but needed to have a IDP as well. The fee for both licenses at the DLT is around 700 baht for both licenses (standard), + residence certificate, statement from a doctor and copies. Previously we could get our licenses verified by our embassy, but they stopped providing this service several years ago. I know several Norwegian people residence in Thailand need to mail their licenses home to family/friends in Norway and get them to return it together with an IDP as well.
