the worry I would have with paying people is if the stamp is actually genuine. I remember many years ago when an old boy called Taxi use to arrange in and out stamps, suddenly found out that the stamps were fake. He had been sending them off to the border but they weren't legit and had about 100 passports on dodge stamps. It was a lot easier to sort out them type of problems back then, but I personally wouldn't trust any of these under the table visas. Sure most are probably okay and got some kick backs going on but I'm not sure I'd trust them.
now Australia have pretty much closed the borders and until recently the only flights bringing people to Thailand were special repat flights for Thai. It doesn't mean your visa would not let you stay if you were here
If your working illegally and not old enough to retire or married to a Thai or dependant kids I guess the options are an Elite visa or overstay and then pay the overstay fees when leaving the country eventually
