because we were on a time crunch of about 5 months. We were quoted about 1.5 years for a green card/wife visa.

ya. That's an agent though... you dont HAVE to use them. That would be like immigration charging you 25,000+ then also wanting to use an agent...

so. Have to spoken to 2 immigration lawyers now. They both said something very similar. It will "look weird" applying for a visitor visa instead of wife visa. But the problem is the wife visas take a year if not longer and we were on a time constraint
