Never carried my passport. Like Garrett said. Pic on your phone will work. Never been asked myself. Only when exchanging money or for a room.

I put a deposit on my room only. The hotel sent me a "full paid" receipt. Payed the rest before I left the hotel.

 just relaying what I did Jo. Got it from the hotel and my pass was approved in 5 min. Landed in BKK the 12th.
