We were granted dependent visas for our two children from the London embassy and used the exact same bank statement that we had already submitted for my husband’s DTV (same bank account for all three visa applications). We included a letter stating he would sponsor their costs while in Thailand. Visas were issued within 24 hours.
thanks Ko, sounds like that pretty much replaces the need for a Thai bank account if it can do everything you need for living there. Will definitely look into to that!
hi there do you mind me asking if Wise is suitable for things like paying condo rent etc? (I assume you need to transfer the rent to the landlord’s Thai bank account) Or just small day to day expenses?
I sent a cover letter explaining the nature of my work (remote freelancing to UK clients via my UK Ltd company), my resume, my current client contract into 2025, and my company ownership docs as evidence.
I moved from document check to pending approval a few hours after I submitted the application , and the visa was issued about 24 hours after that. London digital nomad option via my UK Ltd company.
I also got my DTV from London in under 48 hours. Digital nomad through my UK Ltd company. Very impressive!! They finished reviewing the documents a few hours after submission and 24 hours later the approval was processed and visa was issued.
Mine was all done under 48 hours from London - but I triple checked my documents and made sure I submitted everything the first time. Digital nomad option via my UK Ltd company.
The status moved from document check to waiting for approval after two or three hours. All complete about 24 hours after that.
I spoke to our shippers on this last week - they said without a min 1 year Thai work permit you can still import household items but everything is potentially liable for 20% duty on the new replacement cost (whatever the Thai customs deem it to be, regardless of your receipts)- even old and used items are subject to duty.
But from reading other forums it depends on which person processes your paperwork as to how much duty is deemed due.
