What is the immigration experience like when landing at Samui Airport with a DTV visa?

Samui Airport DTV

Would like to ask if anyone can share their experience to land at Samui Airport with DTV? How’s the immigration there? Is there documents (proof of funds the 500k, accommodation book, return flight) ever asked? Appreciate it! I heard Samui Airport isn’t as strict as any other airports (like DMK or CNX) but would like to prepare. It’s the first time I’ll land in Samui.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers arriving at Samui Airport with a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) generally report a smooth and hassle-free immigration experience. Most users indicate that the process is straightforward, with minimal questions asked, primarily confirming the presence of a DTV. While it's advised to have documents like proof of funds, accommodation booking, and return flight information ready, most travelers have not been asked to present these documents. Overall, many attest that Samui Airport is less strict compared to other airports in Thailand.

Had a client fly in the other day no problems, haven't seen any verified reports of anyone at any airport being refused.

Went through there Saturday. Only question I got asked was if I have a DTV. And I have quite a few stamps in my passport this year

You wouldn't be asked anything when you have shown DTV.

You have to be prepared everytime you arrive Thailand

If you’re not working illegally on your DTV, you probably have no issues…… why so nervous?! 🤣

I saw some news people got denied entry for not printed out their accommodation or even don’t have the cash they require to have in hand for (the 10k or 20k baht), and who knows I might be on the jackpot of that random check 🤷🏽‍♀️ it happened to me in DMK couple months ago and I wasn’t prepared, I’ve had all on my computer luckily but the 2 hours in interrogation room, I wished I could avoid that

Anonymer Teilnehmer still sounds like you just don’t have the money. They getting serious at the moment! Fly back in for my 4th DTV stamp and had to proof everything. Best of luck.

Anonymous participant yep. There’s about 7 reasons immigration can deny you. One of them is not having means to live. The proof is a requirement to have 20k (actually on paper it’s 10k for single traveller) cash. I ran the tourist visa, visa runs, extensions gauntlet for many years, until it became ridiculous. I have a long term visa now. If you have a valid DTV and can back that up, based on the reasons you applied you won’t have an issue. Good luck 🤞

Anonymous participant will do, I purposely route my flight that way via Singapore because it's always more relaxed. Been traveling there for over 8 years and its always been smooth. Ill update you 🥰 this will be my 3rd entry on DTV this year, 2nd time for Samui.

If you have a valid dtv visa, nobody is strict at all.

Is Samui an international airport now?
Vitaly ********
@Fabio ********
it’s been international airport since 1996

@Fabio ********
Samui Airport is international and belongs to the Bangkok Airways. They have a monopoly for Samui and Trat airport. They but sell a few landing rights to a handful of international airlines, but inside Thailand, no other airline holds landing rights

@Andreas ********
that’s right . And prices are very expensive compared to anywhere else in Thailand ..Plus the fact you can’t even fly to anywhere in Malaysia even though it’s a country closest bordering south 🙄
Vitaly ********
SunnyCelery6177 they used to have flights to KL and Penang pre-Covid, hopefully they’ll reintroduce them at some point

Very smooth experience. Went through immigration a couple of times and it was easy and fast. I just showed my printed visa, made the photo and received my stamp within seconds. Nothing else asked. But it never hurts to have your documents ready to show just in case.
