Total cost is a one time fee of approximately 10,000 baht ( the actual cost depends on the embassy through which you apply).

If you decide to do any extensions that is an additional cost. But if you do border runs or leave the country occasionally then the one time application fee is the total cost.

I posted about my experience in early October.

Overall it was a decent experience. Mine took two days because they wanted a supervisor to review my documents that afternoon before they took the fee. And I had to do a little interview to explain some things.

My company in USA is a C-Corp and I provided EIN doc, Articles of Incorporation, etc but no city business license. Had to walk them through that as they seem to prefer city biz license and weren't familiar with the state and federal level documents.

Bank docs were easy. We looked up the exchange rate and wrote the Thai baht equivalent next to the USD balances.

They did look at the bank statements to see income coming in. I wrote a letter from my company to the embassy about my work and allowed to work remotely

I had an METV when I went. They asked if I flew to Taipei specifically to apply for the DTV and I said yes.

One note - the printing services at FamilyMart and 7-11 are great! Very convenient and inexpensive

Other easy options are Vietnam, Jakarta or Taipei. Fast and finished within 1 to 5 days. I did mine in Taipei

Nope, present the printed pdf of the DTV at immigration and you will get a 180 day entry stamp in your passport but no visa sticker.

Visa stickers are only received at embassies that you walk into to apply (such as Taipei)

Anonymous participant to use option 3 your spouse or child would already have to have a DTV visa...

If you are working remotely or have a business overseas providing you with income that is a possible route. Or if you sign up for something in Option 2 that could be possible.

But since your spouse is Thai they don't have DTV and you wouldn't be eligible under this category.

Regarding the money in the bank account - transactions in and out are irrelevant. The length of time reauired to have a Bank account balance of over 500k baht varies depending on which embassy you apply through. Some require current balance only while others require up to 6 months.

Extremely common to apply for the DTV in other countries than your home or residency. Many people do this daily at various locations.

Each embassy has slightly different requirements, process, processing times and cost. Search this group for more info on the many posts about this.

Commonly used locations are Jakarta, Taipei, Vietnam. I got mine in Taipei. Flew there, applied in person the next morning, had it completed the following day and returned to Thailand.

It hasn't been 180 days yet since the start of the visa program so no one has done an extension

Anonymous participant 0 baht to open account is quite rare because the banks basically "require" to purchase an insurance policy. Without the Thai account you end up paying transfer fees or ATM fees and then you will end up paying more than the agent anyway. Plus the time of going to dozens on bank locations is worth something unless you have nothing else to do.

When I opened mine a few months ago, the bank insurance was included in the agent fees. So the difference between trying to do it myself over many days or getting it done in less than 2 hours was only 3500 baht. I preferred spending those several days I saved to do other things

Anonymous participant why not? Paying for someone to help get things done. Not illegal or anything

Enter the country on any day you want during the 5 year visa dates listed on your approval.
