I was there just after 8, the gates opened just after 9, and I would think there were about 40 people outside then. They let in those with qeue number 1-20 first which I was in, then walked over to a desk marked step 1 (appointment confirmation) and step 2 (document screening). I had all required documents except a copy of my entrance stamp to Laos and Lao visa. My mistake. Was told to go to the second floor where a lady did the copies for me for 10 baht. When I came down people sat neatly in line for the 3 window counters accepting the application, and within a couple of minutes I handed in mine, the lady looked through it all and gave me a note telling me what time to pick it up tomorrow. No payment done today, I was surprised by this. The lady said “if you get visa, you pay tomorrow 2000 baht”. Fingers crossed!
Update: as Jude mentioned, the correct location is the “embassy of Thailand” on google maps. I just got here and we are currently 15 people waiting outside.
I believe a METV starts running from the moment you get it in your passport, so if you want to get as much out of those six months as possible, you should get it close to your departure. The 6 months does not start from the day you enter the country, only a 60 day period (like when you have a SETV, that you must enter within 3 months.
thank you, of course I have to talk with them about the courses and all that, I was just thinking more regarding the visa it self, I don’t want to risk it becoming invalid over a short holiday and is hoping that a re-entry permit is what I need. Or if I need more documentation stating that I’m allowed to leave from the school to bring to immigration or something like that.
