Just a quick question for me here:
I am on an ED-visa, that expires mid January. I have not done any extensions yet. How soon before my permitted to stay date can I go to immigration and apply for an extension?
I like getting things like this done sooner rather than waiting until the last minute. Especially since I am going home to see my parents for Christmas with a permition letter from my school that I will take to immigration where I will buy a re-entry permit. So I’m curious if it’s possible to apply for the extension before I go see my parents for Christmas on a re-entry permit. Or even better, if it’s possible to apply for the extension the same time I go to buy my re-entry permit, to save time and trips to the immigration office. I am in Krabi.
I hope you all had a lovely Loy Krathong celebration yesterday!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an ED-visa set to expire mid-January and is looking to apply for an extension before traveling home for Christmas. Community responses clarify that an extension can be applied for 30 days or less prior to the expiration date, and one user shares their experience, confirming that in Krabi, applications can be made up to 45 days in advance. This allows the user to obtain both the extension and re-entry permit in one visit.
