I have an education visa stamped in my (current) German passport. Need to extend the visa at immigration every 2 months however and also do 90 day reports.
My passport expires in a few months and I already have the new passport ready to pick up at the German embassy.
Will I have to make a new visa because of the new passport or is the visa electronically saved with my personal data so i dont have to worry?
When I return to Thailand this summer, I plan to study Thai and apply for an ED visa (but I will arrive on a SETV and sort out school papers etc first).
I know that the ED visa is initially for 3 month, which you then can extend another 9 month so it becomes a year.
However, I have promised my parents to come home for Christmas this year, so I want to take about 3 weeks holiday for Christmas in my home country (mid December to 1 week in January).
The extension will be taken care of well in time before I plan to leave Thailand.
Can anyone tell me if there’s any specific rules I have to keep in mind here after getting the extension, or is it enough that I just get a re-entry permit before leaving? When it comes to the 90 day reports, It shouldn’t be in conflict with the time I’m away, timeline wise.
So I was already at 7am at the Immigration, got a queue number 290 from the immigration officer, meaning 289 people in front of me.
Went down to make some copies to transfer stamps to my new passport and for the 30 day extension.
Around 8.15am they already opened the doors and then we had to queue up again in 3 huge queues at counters where you show your documents and get another queue number for the final counter.
So I sat down at K1 counter, and there were just 10 people in front of me. One counter processed already 5 people while in the other counter the female immigration officer was busy straightened her hair with a hair straightener, no kidding right in her booth.
After that she disappeared for like 20 or so minutes. I happened to be her first customer, went in gave my documents, paid 1900thb.she was very friendly. 30min later got my new passport with my 30 day extension as well as all stamps transferred. Also got my old passport back.
So all in all it was smooth sailing but iam sure that people who are there for 90 day reports, non B visas etc will spend until after lunch time there.
Thanks and good luck to anyone going to Chaengwattana
It seems the CAPTCHA function on the Online reporting page is broken. So whilst online reporting is up, you can't use it because you can't submit without the CAPTCHA function at the bottom.
