Yes Krungsri , on tourists visa. Needed a rental contract, used a Thai consultant/lawyer who was handling a real estate deal for us. In and out in 30 mins. This was Feb of 2020.

Does owning property in Thailand for several years indicate strong ties to the country?

Just my 2 cents its semantics whether I own in my personal name or thru a company I setup, own and control. My company in Canada can own property in Canada, doesn't make it any less mine. And yes we have a condo in Thailand, and we have the chanote. I accept the risks in any investments potential gains or losses at home or abroad.
