You need a resident visa good for 1 year or more.And of course money and time.

I can tell you Thailand is over run with foreigners I thought about it but it's too hot too polluted and they are now taxing any foreigner who stays over 180 days.So have fun.Also foreigners can't own land.

They must have changed banking rules there.They told me at 4 different banks I needed a long term visa or a Thai wife.

Go in person to a Royal Thai Embassy then you will be in direct contact with an immigration official.

When I was there you had to have a permanent resident visa first.

When I was there I couldn't get an account without a permanent resident visa I went to 6 different banks there.
