David Broadfoot if you are in Thailand and you can't work in Thailand, you're not working. Remember those laws were made in the 60s when internet didn't exist and traveling wasn't so easy.

Technically, if you quit working to be indefinitely on leisure, it's retirement, even if you aren't entitled to a pension. You retired to live in Thailand.
