What are the consequences of using a visa exemption while holding a non-O retirement visa with a re-entry permit in Thailand?

Thanks for accepting me in the group.

A holder of a re-entry permit based on non-O retirement needs a 1-year health insurance to get the COE.

My question is: what could happen if he obtain a COE by declaring going on visa exemption and show up at Suwannaphum immigration with the re-entry? Would they notice it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member of an expat group inquired about the implications of attempting to enter Thailand using a visa exemption while holding a valid non-O retirement visa with a re-entry permit. The discussion revealed that immigration checks are rigorous, and any existing visa details are likely stored and reviewed in their system. Several comments also mentioned requirements for health insurance, especially concerning obtaining a Certificate of Entry (COE), with clarification that the non-O visa may not require health insurance beyond the COE stipulations, unlike the non-OA visa. Participants shared their insights and personal experiences, focusing on the necessity of declaring existing visas and the potential consequences of not doing so.

Non O or Non OA? Non O doesn’t need health insurance (other than the mandatory for Certificate of Entry requirements). Non OA does.

All non-O retirement visa holders with re-entry permits who gave a feedback were requested to show the retiree's insurance in order to get their COE.

I’m not sure what that means. “Who gave a feedback”

ie People who shared their experience on Facebook groups. I can't speak about the silent ones, that's why I can't say if the insurance was requested to all non-O or not.

You would need to show the insurance upon entering the country to be stamped in for the remainder of you extention of stay. You're only stamped in for as long as your insurance covers.

Pretty sure you can't enter on visa exempt if you already have a Visa

Well, in pre covid time you could if you decided to not use your visa and void it.

But my question here is more about entering with the existing visa, but not mentioning it on the COE.

pretty sure the embassy will see he has another visa either deny CoE to find out about existing visa or I guess potentially go ahead and cancel his existing visa and get the immigration office to rubber stamp it as cancelled upon arrival to Thailand.

You need to show your insurance when entering on an OA or an extention of stay off an OA.

It's an interesting point regarding arriving on visa exempt. Be interesting to see what the answer is

Do you need the 1 year insurance or just the length of yout trip? I did 90 days and was covered for that

Luma/Tune does from 1 month up to 1 year. But you only get entry stamp for as long as your insurance cover.

Strange that Luma is not on the official list of companies offering a retiree insurance for OA visa.

it's listed under Tune. But also known as Luma. I had no problem getting 1 year entry stamp with this insurance.

I don't see Luma/Tune in the list, sorry.
