I’ve had two ED visas from Hanoi and always found that if you have all the correct paperwork and are genuinely studying at a language school they are very efficient and professional.
If you want to learn Thai on an Education Visa you need to find a language school first. They do your paperwork to take to an embassy. It's not a quick process so I'd say you need to start looking asap!
They are strict on having the proof of a flight out of Thailand. I was there last month and saw a lot of people turned away because of this. Other than this it's quick and efficient service. Go before midday and collect next day at 4pm.
Thanks Tod you are correct in your interpretation of my question. My son has lived, worked and raised a family here for the past 14 years. I came to join them as I didn’t want to miss out on my grandchildren. I’m not in a financial position at the moment to go the retirement route so looking at all options to stay here as long as possible. I’m currently on an Ed visa but know this will run out soon.
