Hello All, I am going to Hanoi to get a tourist Visa for Thailand (I'm from the UK)

Does anyone have any experience of doing this and info related to what documents... if any you need to show them and whether it is okay to pay them for the extension in Vietnamese Dong?

I have heard that immigration are tightening the laws and making things difficult. Anyone who has gone to Hanoi to get a tourist visa for Thailand within say the last two months any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice on obtaining a tourist visa for Thailand from Hanoi, specifically regarding required documents and payment in Vietnamese Dong. Commenters emphasize the importance of proof of onward travel and state that the visa fee must be paid in US dollars. Overall, the process is described as efficient if the applicant meets the necessary requirements.

They are strict on having the proof of a flight out of Thailand. I was there last month and saw a lot of people turned away because of this. Other than this it's quick and efficient service. Go before midday and collect next day at 4pm.

I had to collect after 4pm in Hanoi last time. The time before it was 3pm so who knows!

You mean before 4 pm, yeah? HCMC was something like 1-4 pm.

You shouldn't have a problem at the thai consulates in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City as long as you meet the requirements for the tourist visa.

They don't even really care how many other tourist visas you've had in your passport (there are stories of people who had a LOT of previous T/V's getting another one from those consulates).

The visa fee must be paid in US Dollars...$40.00 for a Tourist Visa.

You can ONLY pay in US dollars for the thai visa.

You can get the Single Entry Tourist Visa at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi, it will be valid for 90 days and you get 60 days of Admitted to Stay. Immigration is in my opinion not tightening the laws and making things difficult. Thai Immigration do their job to check if your visa fits your purpose of stay and can ask to show 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in cash, proof of accommodation and proof of onward travel before they let you inside the country. Here the link to the Thai Embassy in Hanoi with the requirements for the visa:
