why oppose it? Expats live here. This is a once per 100 years disaster. Most tourists would never get this waiver otherwise. Expats should be business as usual.
22nd...and still no word. Methinks they are waiting to collect millions of baht more in app fees this week before they announce anything. I don't mind that, as long as they waive everything for at least a few months.
You are right. The final discretion is with them. They even have the power to deny based on they just don't like your attitude. None of us tourists have any legal basis to demand an extension...we can only ask and hope for the best. To answer your first question....for many, their home country is a worse place to go to if they are factoring "survivability" in what their next move is. You can wax on forever with whatever platitudes you like about should have, could have, etc. But you know what? None of that matters if a person dies because they made the wrong decision of where to be during this crisis. And you can't answer that for them...each person is trying to make the best decision and hoping for the best outcome: make it through this ALIVE.
Will they give her 30 more days starting on the 23rd? Or is the 30-clock already starting to count down from the day they have her the "under consideration" stamp?
. Explain to them you have attempted to leave and experienced flight cancellations, and need to extend due to the challenges you are facing. Provide them with your Name, PP#, Date of Birth. They have been providing a number of people with an official letter to help support your application for extension. Print it in color and bring with you to immigration. Good luck!
